ACUPRESSURE:
Acupressure is an ancient Chinese healing art developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. When giving acupressure we apply pressure to certain meridian points on the body and the points then release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force energy to aid healing.

Advantages of using acupressure include relieving pain, balancing the body and maintaining good health. The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness
The client lies fully clothed on a soft massage table and an average session lasts for about one hour.

AROMATHERAPY:
The use of essential oils (which are extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians,

Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds.
Aromatherapy diffusers are utilized to fill the massage room with the scent of the oils. Specific essential oils are blended by the aroma therapist and added to carrier oil, such as almond oil, to be used during the massage. Each of the oils has its own unique characteristics and benefits.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE:
Techniques which utilize deep tissue/deep muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep tissue massage, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis.

MYOFACIAL RELEASE:
Myofascial release is a type of soft tissue massage which incorporates stretching and massage of the connective tissues, or fascia. Myofascial release began to be a popular form of massage therapy in the late 1990s, when patients realized the potential for pain management and increased flexibility that myofascial release offered. Like other forms of massage therapy, there are a number of schools which offer certification in myofascial release.

During myofascial release, the client may be manipulated in a wide variety of poses, or the massage therapist may only stretch a muscle in a small way, using a few fingers to get deep into the muscle and pull it into a beneficial stretch. Breathing in conjunction with the stretches is advised for maximum comfort and benefit.
In patients with fibromyalgia, back pain, and other muscle-associated health issues, myofascial release can be highly beneficial.

JAPANESE ENERGY HEALING - REIKI:
This is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing and it was discovered by Dr. Usui in the late 1800's. Reiki is a system for channeling that energy to someone for the purpose of healing. The art of Reiki works on many different levels and produces a deep cleansing effect on the mind, body, emotions and spirit. It loosens up blocked energy, cleanses the body of toxins and supports each individual's healing process. It is used to effectively treat a variety of physical ailments and can also be used for self-healing, mental healing, and distant healing.

A typical Reiki treatment can last up to an hour and a half. The receiver lies fully clothed on a treatment table and the Reiki practitioners hands are placed in various positions over the whole body. Each position is held for several minutes.

SWEDISH MASSAGE:
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin.

The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE:
Therapeutic massage is a ‘hands on’ treatment intended to address many soft tissue problems. The massage techniques include stroking, kneading, friction, vibrwation and percussion. The techniques can directly affect the body systems that govern heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and digestion. The resulting sense of well being lowers the amount of circulating stress hormones which may be weakening the bodies natural immune system.

Lighter massage is used for relaxation. It releases tension and reduces anxiety so that people feel more serene and better equipped to cope with the stresses of life. The techniques used will be soothing and provide no discomfort.

PRENATAL MASSAGE
Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Edema, or swelling of the joints during pregnancy, is often caused by reduced circulation and increased pressure on the major blood vessels by the heavy uterus. Massage helps to stimulate soft tissues to reduce collection of fluids in swollen joints, which also improves the removal of tissue waste, carried by the body’s lymph system. Sciatic nerve pain is experienced by many women in late pregnancy as the uterus rests on muscles of the pelvic floor and lower back.. Massage therapy addresses the inflamed nerves by helping to release the tension on nearby muscles. Many women have experienced significant reduction in sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy through regular massage.

Other benefits of prenatal massage are improved circulation, reduced edema, reduced muscle tension and headaches, reduced stress and anxiety, improved oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles and better sleep.
